The handheld toy, is packaged in a ‘box’ manufactured from white card and a protective insert, manufactured from EPP (Expanded Polypropylene). EPP is strong and can withstand regular handling and resists everyday knocks and drops. It has thermal insulation properties and has a high strength to weight ratio. EPP can be recycled and is naturally biodegradable.
EPP both cushions and protects the product within the packaging. EPP offers scratch protection, to products with glossed or polished surfaces. It is available in a range of colours, which enhances the outer packaging.
|Expanded polystyrene could be used for the insert, however, it tends to crumble and disintegrate after repeated use. Furthermore, expanded polystyrene is often referred to as ‘white pollution’, as it is not biodegradable and ‘blows’ around in the environment. Also, it does not have the same quality feel. Expanded polystyrene is a cheap alternative to EPP.|
