| A electricity generating buoy has been developed in
the USA. As the buoy ‘bobs’ up and down in the sea a electricity
generating system inside produces electricity. It is estimated that
these system have low maintenance costs and a life time of at least
twenty years. The amount of electricity generated depends on the size of the device and the power of the waves. |

| This type of electrical generator produces power from the movement of a sea buoy. As the waves force the buoy upwards and then downwards, the movement is followed by a ‘piston’, which has magnets at the lower end, inside the seabed casing. The magnets create a magnet field within the core magnetic ring. The movement produces electricity. |

| The sea buoys are arranged in large numbers, as a ‘farm’. As they ‘bob’ up and down they generate electricity. The amount generated depends on the height and consistency of the waves. In calm seas, it is possible that no electrical power is created, although even in a sea dominated by small waves, electrical power will be produced. |
