An example of a strip heater is shown below. However, some parts have be removed from the diagram deliberately. Complete the strip heater on the separate answer sheet (below) and include the missing parts. Number each part and explain its function.

 
 
 

The stages of using the strip heater and text shown below have been arranged in the wrong order. On a separate sheet draw the stages and write the text / description, in the correct sequence. Ensure that the right text lines up with the correct picture.

 

 

The plastic is placed across the rests, above the heating element.

   

The position of the fold is marked with a china-graph pencil. With this type of pencil the line can be removed easily later.

   

The strip heater is turned on and the plastic is turned over every 30 seconds - one minute. This stops the heat rising from the element damaging the surface of the plastic.

   

When the plastic becomes flexible it is placed in a ‘jig’. The jig is made to the correct angle, in the example - 90 degrees. A square section block is then pressed against the plastic to hold it in position as it cools.
