The balancing toys, seen on this page, are designed to swing from left to right (and vice versa), eventually coming to a stop. In order to work, the majority of the weight of each toy, is below its fixed point of rotation. The centre of gravity of each toy is also below its fixed point of rotation.

The bird can be manufactured from MDF, with its wings manufactured from perspex. Colour is applied to the MDF, with felt pens/ ink pens.

The wings are attached to the body with small screws. This allows the position of the wings to be altered, allowing for careful balancing of the toy.

The unusual character is manufactured from MDF. The majority of the weight must be below the point of rotation. Wire is used to attach the hands, again the hands are below the point of rotation. Coloured foam has been used as the characters hair, reducing the weight above the point of rotation.
Almost all the weight of the monkey is below the point of rotation. Emphasis has been placed on the design of the silhouette. A simple and yet difficult shape to draw. The hand of the monkey, hangs on the point of rotation.
