V. Ryan © 2006 - 2009

The snake shape is then cut into pieces to form a simple jigsaw. A Fretsaw is used again for this purpose.

The pieces fit back into the hole produced by the fretsaw. A base of thin 6mm plywood, MDF or hardboard is fixed to the base with countersunk screws.

FIXING THE BASE TO THE TOP

Dia. A - Four holes, the diameter of a countersunk screw, are drilled in the base. A piece of masking tape is wrapped round the drill bit to ensure that each hole is drilled to the thickness of the base.
Dia. B - A countersunk bit is used to countersink each hole.
Dia. C - The top is drilled with a smaller drill bit
Dia. D - A steel countersunk screw is used to fix the base to the top
