Polylactide is a polymer with a range of practical applications. It is a sustainable, environmentally friendly polymer, due to it being derived from plants. When polylactide products come to the end of their useful life, they can be land filled and they decompose producing water and carbon dioxide. The life cycle of polylactide is outlined in pictorial form below.
