SPREADSHEETS: Using a spreadsheet for working out the costs of your project will also help. Spreadsheets can be used to calculate the costs involved in the manufacture of a project. The most popular spreadsheet is called EXCEL and can be used by beginners and professionals alike. spreadsheets can be set up to calculate totals and tax automatically. Spreadsheet software is capable of processing complex calculations and formulas. You will need to master the basics of spreadsheets as part of any product design course..

USING A LOG BOOK: Regularly photograph your work and keep a log of your weekly efforts. Keep a record for each stage of manufacture as this shows good planning. For example, when manufacturing models and prototypes photograph every stage and place them in the log book. Screen shots of your use of software will also be helpful.
