Very soon you will need to select the subjects you want to study at GCSE. The subjects you decide to study in Years 10 and 11 may influence the jobs / careers you have in later life OR the courses you study in the Sixth Form and University. Answer the following questions carefully, they will help make your selection. | |
1. List four subjects (not the compulsory subjects) you would like to study in Years 10 and 11. Alongside each subject explain why you want to study it. Also, include a grade you think you are currently achieving in each of the subjects. | |
2. What career or job would you like to do when you leave school / college / university? | |
3. Why have you selected the job / career ? The keywords/phrases may help you answer this question. | |

4. Using the internet as a
research tool - research three careers/jobs that you would like to
consider for your future employment. You could carry out general research
or specific research. EXAMPLE - GENERAL RESEARCH: You may wish to search the internet for general information about a career in the Medical Professions. EXAMPLE- SPECIFIC RESEARCH: You may wish to be more specific and search for information regarding becoming a Doctor. Write notes on the careers / jobs you research in the space below. |

5. Competition. In the space below list as many jobs / careers you can think of in two minutes. |
