2. The picnic bench shown above could be improved. On the basic diagram shown below, draw three improvements / additions you could make to the design, without changing the design completely. Include notes to explain your changes / additions.

 

 

3. The diagram below shows a wooden folding picnic chair
Two joints ‘A’ and ‘B’ have been identified on the left-hand side of the page. Draw a diagram of each joint and list each name. On the right-hand side draw two alternative joints that could be used. Name each joint.

   
 
   

4. Read the design specification for a folding picnic table outlined below. Use the information to sketch three different design ideas. You will gain marks for the quality of your sketches and the quality of notes.

   
1. It must be possible to fold all the furniture with ease, ready for transport in an average family car.
2. The furniture must be stylish and interesting.
3. The table must be lightweight so that even a child can carry it with ease.
4. The folding mechanisms must be as safe as possible.
5. The table must be manufactured with the environment in mind. Recycled materials to be used where possible.
6. It must be weather proof and easy to clean.
7. Both adult and childrens sizes must be available for potential customers.
