The Ten Commandments of Design and Technology

 
1. All pupils should have access to good Design and Technology Facilities.
2. Design and Technology should be compulsory in both secondary and primary schools.
3. Design and Technology should be ten percent of timetable contact time.
4. Design and Technology should have more funding than any other subject in the curriculum.
5. Design and Technology should be the most important subject in schools.
6. Manufacturing industry should contribute directly to Design and Technology departments in all schools.
7. Design and Technology departments should have separate funding to enable staff to research/experiment with new technology/projects.
8. Class sizes in workshops should be limited to a maximum of eighteen pupils.
9. All Technology departments should have at least one full time technician.
10. All pupils should have equal access to technology subjects regardless of gender.
