NATIONAL CURRICULUM KEY STAGE THREE

PROJECT TEMPLATE

The project template sheets (see contents list below) are easy to follow. They allow for imaginative teaching and yet the teacher and pupils know exactly what they have to produce, in terms of paperwork. The sheets allow for differentiation as each sheet is aimed at specific Key Stage Three Levels.

PROJECT TEMPLATE: The level indicator at the bottom of each sheet clearly identifies the level(s) covered. Therefore, pupils working towards a Level 6 should aim to complete all those sheets with Level 6 clearly displayed.

There are two ways in which the templates can be used.
1. The pupils attempt one project throughout the academic year and complete all the template sheets as well as the making. This is the easiest way to calculate a pupil level. However, it is normal practice in English Schools for pupils to experience a range of technology subjects including; Textiles, Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Electronics etc.... This makes a single project approach impossible.

OR

2. If several technology subjects are contributing to the final pupil level - the template sheets can be divided between all the technology subjects. Pupils complete a selection of the sheets in each of the subject areas, as their evidence of working towards a particular level. The sheets are then stored centrally and the pupil level can then be determined at the end of the academic year.

Each entry on the contents list below has a specific template sheet. These can be attempted in order. However, if a number of technology subjects are contributing to the final pupil level - it may be necessary for the sheets to be divided between the subjects. At the end of the academic year the final pupil level can be determined.
