DESIGN BRIEF

Most of the houses in the UK are quite old. They tend to use energy in a very inefficient manner. Old houses tend to be drafty, they lose their heat quickly especially in winter. Also, people tend to be very wasteful - they leave the lights on when they leave a room, doors tend to be left open even when the heating is on, the TV is left on even when people are not watching it etc........

Design a house that is very efficient. It could have solar panels or wind powered electricity generators on the roof, a computer system that turns off the TV when people leave the room, doors that close automatically keeping heat inside rooms instead of it escaping etc.....

TASKS

1. Draw the outside of the house and label all the energy saving features (solar panels etc...) explain why you have included each one.

2. Select a room of your choice. Draw a ‘birds eye’ view of the room and label all the energy saving features.

3. Add labels and notes that clearly explain your designs.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

To achieve a high grade:

Draw an accurate design representing your environmentally friendly house.
Draw an accurate ‘birds eye view’ of a room.
Add notes and labels.
