B. An exhaust valve of a typical internal combustion engine is shown below. When in operation the exhaust valve moves in the direction indicated by the arrows, for every revolution of the shaft. On the diagram, draw the missing mechanism that enables this to happen. |

C. Describe how the mechanism works. The push rod is forced upwards by the rotary motion of the engine. As the rods moves up the rocker arm forces the exhaust valve down. The return spring then forces the rocker arm and push rod back to their original positions. |
