DESIGN PROBLEM

A supermarket chain has approached your design company to design a small mechanical toy to be placed at every checkout. It will be next to the chocolate and sweets. The aim is to encourage young children to ask their parents to buy them the toy and chocolate / sweets etc..... before they purchase their weekly shopping.

The mechanical toy should be simple, cheap to manufacture and attract the interest of young children. It should be relatively cheap to buy so that parents find it hard to say ‘no’ to their children. The product should be associated with fun, enjoyment, cartoons and any other enticing characteristics. It must include a mechanical movement.

DESIGN BRIEF

I am going to design and make a display for supermarket checkouts. It will attract young children and encourage them to ask their parents to buy it. The display will be based on a theme. It will be exciting and lively, suggesting that every young child must have this toy. It will be colourful and include mechanical movement. The design may include well known characters that are popular with young children.
