PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF A REVERSE MOTION LINKAGE |
V.Ryan © 2020-2024 |
A Reverse Motion linkage, is a simple mechanism that reverses the direction of input (see the diagram below). The fixed pivot plays a central and crucial role in the reversal of direction. A good example of a practical application of this mechanism, is a motorised trolley with a vertical platform. The mechanism opposite, is composed of a number of reverse motion linkages, that allow the platform to lift and lower safely. |
This adjustable platform makes use of a reverse motion linkage. The arms move ‘about’ the fixed pivot points, as the platform rises and lowers. |
The structure of the ‘lift’, ensures that the platform is held securely in position. It can be adjusted to a variety of heights and is an excellent example of the practical application, of this type of linkage |
