HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION |
DRAWING THE CRATE / GUIDELINES ACCURATELY |
1. Draw a box / crate round the original image. |
2. Use a pair of dividers or even a compass to mark off equal divisions along the top and side of the crate / box. |
3. Use a ruler to draw the grid pattern. For accuracy, consider using a T square and set square. |
4. Add the numbers as show below. |
5. Draw a new grid. This will be used to help you draw your version of the power drill. |
6. Transfer the measurements from the original grid (drawn round the image) to the new grid. Use either a compass or pair of dividers. Draw in the outline of the power drill. |

APPLYING THE COLOUR |
7. Select a colour for the ‘body’ of the drill. Shade from dark to faint and back to dark. The faint represents reflected light. Notice the shading is at a slight angle, because of the angle of the power drill. |
8. Select the next colour, in this case ‘black’. Shade the area shown below. Again, shade from dark to faint and back to dark, representing the reflection of light. |
9. Shade the drill chuck and bit using a grey pencil, shading from dark to faint and back to dark. |
