HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION |
1. Draw round the outline of the box / container with a brown pencil. |
2. Add the grain effect with a brown pencil. |
Consider using a medium intensity brown for the wood grain. |
3. Shade from the bottom to the top of the container, from dark to faint and back to dark.
NOTICE - The shading is at the same angle as the sides of the box. The box is drawn in isometric (at 30 degrees). Therefore, the shading is at the same angle. |
4. Continue by shading the opposite side the the top of the base. |
5. Complete the shading of the lid. NOTICE - the shade is fainter at its centre. |
6. Shade the handle. Apply slightly different tones to each of the sides. This helps to give a 3D effect. |
7. Add shade ‘under’ the base. This acts as shadow and enhances the 3D appearance box / container. |
8. As extension work, draw an exploded view of the box. with the lid above the container. |
