| HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION |
| 1. Draw round the outline of the box / container with a brown pencil. |
|
| 2. Add the grain effect with a brown pencil. |
| Consider using a medium intensity brown for the wood grain. |
|
| 3. Shade from the bottom to the top of the container, from dark to faint and back to dark.

| 4. Continue by shading the opposite side the the top of the base. |
|
| 5. Complete the shading of the lid. NOTICE - the shade is fainter at its centre. |

| 6. Shade the handle. Apply slightly different tones to each of the sides. This helps to give a 3D effect. |
|
| 7. Add shade ‘under’ the base. This acts as shadow and enhances the 3D appearance box / container. |

| 8. As extension work, draw an exploded view of the box. with the lid above the container. |
