HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION

1. Draw round the outline of the box / container with a brown pencil.

2. Add the grain effect with a brown pencil.
Consider using a medium intensity brown for the wood grain.

3. Shade from the bottom to the top of the container, from dark to faint and back to dark.

NOTICE - The shading is at the same angle as the sides of the box. The box is drawn in isometric (at 30 degrees). Therefore, the shading is at the same angle.

4. Continue by shading the opposite side the the top of the base.

5. Complete the shading of the lid.
NOTICE - the shade is fainter at its centre.

6. Shade the handle. Apply slightly different tones to each of the sides. This helps to give a 3D effect.

7. Add shade ‘under’ the base. This acts as shadow and enhances the 3D appearance box / container.

8. As extension work, draw an exploded view of the box. with the lid above the container.
