Drawing in Isometric Projection is made much easier when the object being drawn is placed within guidelines, called a 'crate'. The object is drawn within a faint box (crate), making the transfer of measurements from orthographic views easier. |
INSTRUCTIONS |
The stages outlined on this page, describe how to draw the letter āNā in isometric projection, with the aid of an orthographic drawing. You will need a ruler (mm), compass / dividers, 30 degree set square, T square and drawing board. Alternatively - If you are sketching, you will be estimating angles or you will be using a set square without a T square. Isometric grid paper may also be useful, depending on your experience of isometric projection. |
Draw the rectangle (outside measurements) of the āNā and transfer them to the isometric. |
Using dividers or a compass, transfer distances across to the isometric drawing, until the grid (shown in red) is complete. |
