A good trolley must be designed with ergonomics in mind. It must not be too high otherwise it could cause back strain and injury. The handle must be designed to be held firmly and comfortably so that full control of the trolley and its load is never lost.

Ergonomics is considered very carefully when designing a trolley. Dimensions A, B and C are worked out so that they fit the average adult. This is achieved by measuring A, B and C dimensions on hundreds, perhaps even thousands of adults and then working out the average. The average measurements are then applied to the design of trolley.

A design fault has been found on the handle. The users hands tend to slide along the handle. An adult using the trolley could lose grip, losing control of the trolley. A new handle has been designed to prevent this happening.
