DEVELOPMENT SHEET EXAMPLE

Below is another example of a development sheet. This would be drawn when the best idea of several has been selected. The sheet should clearly show how the design can be manufactured. For example, the joints for the table design shown below are clearly drawn and labelled. An explanation of each joint is included. The glass table top is referred to and safety issues are considered. Further detailing including the type of glues that could be used and the type of screws to be used are also mentioned.

 

This is the first development sheet. Further development sheets should follow that explain / describe each of the aspects shown above. For example, a sheet that shows and explains the use of  range of mortise and tenon joints for this design could be included. Also a sheet showing how the glues could be used to permanently join the various parts. A sheet explaining the use of safety glass and the consequences of not using safety glass could be included as well.
