The recycling information label shown below is found on brown paper bags containing food/beverage products purchased at a well known supermarket. The aim is to encourage customers to recycle paper/card and consequently help save / conserve resources.

If you look carefully at the recycling label above. You will see that it incorporates a well known recycling symbol. Normally this is coloured/shaded green as seen opposite.
This symbol is popular because of its imaginative design. The heart found at the end of an arc suggests that it is aimed at people who ‘love’ to recycle. Many recycling symbols are straightforward and rather plain.

The information label below is a ‘variant’ of the one seen above. It was found on a plastic package for vegetables. The label suggests the package can be recycled as it is manufactured from polypropylene.

What do you think of the label?

You are to design a recycling information label to encourage people to recycle newspaper, magazines and catalogues. The label must be informative and amusing/imaginative in order to create interest in recycling. You may wish to incorporate an existing cartoon character or a new character for your own design. Before attempting the design you may wish to research recycling on the internet as this will help you in your design work. Keep printouts of your all your research. Include notes that explain your label design, for instance your choice of colour(s) or the character you have included.
