SIMPLE LED TORCH - DESIGN PROBLEM AND BRIEF |
V. Ryan © 2014 |
Consider why a person may need a small torch. Write a sentence or two, explaining why a person may need a torch. This is called a design problem. |
SAMPLE: When I get home a night, it is difficult to see the front door keyhole. This means that it takes time to open the door. If it is raining, I get wet and it is inconvenient. |
Now consider what you need to do, to solve the problem you have just written about. Write a couple of sentences. This is called the design brief. |
SAMPLE: I am going to design and make a small torch. The torch will be lightweight and easy to hold. It will be easy to turn on and off. The light will be produced by an LED. |
Now present both the design problem and brief on a single design sheet. Add some simple images to enhance the presentation. The images should relate to the project - in the example below, light bulbs have been drawn in each corner. |
