EMERGENCY MOBILE PHONE PACKAGING - 1

V. Ryan © 2007-2017

The emergency mobile phone seen below has simple ‘cuboid’ packaging. The phone has protective packaging, as it may be placed in a haversack or rucksack. The packaging is robust and protects the emergency phone. The phone is issued to walkers, fully charged and so a transformer is not needed.

What are the advantages of having packaging of this type?

1. The cost of manufacturing the package is cheap compared to a complicated box.
2. Less material is used - this is good for the environment.
3. The package is easy to open and close.
4. Limited information can be printed on the packaging. This is a good point as an emergency mobile phone only requires simple instructions. Complicated instructions will confuse the user in an emergency situation.
5. The package is light-weight which means it can be carried easily.
6. The package is relatively weather tight.
7. This package will fit in a pocket easily.

Alternative sleeve. This package has a transparent polythene window.
