This recycling project, ‘up-cycles’ an old snowboard into a modern ‘coffee’ table, for exterior / interior use. Suitable joints have been applied to the design (see list below). Most of the wood is reclaimed pine, with the wedge and feet being reclaimed mahogany. The final product turned out to be slightly different, to the working drawing. The working drawing should be considered the starting point to the project, in this case.

APPLYING A FINISH

Danish Oil has been used for the finish. Two coats, applied by brush, with the excess removed with a cloth. Note, the mahogany feet are screwed in position. They can be replaced in years to come, if they decay (if the table is for outside use). The feet are left to soak in oil. A small amount of furniture oil is poured into the four plastic containers. The table stands in the containers, for several hours, allowing the oil to soak into the feet.
