Life in prison is difficult. It is unpleasant, boring and places great strain on relatives and love ones on the outside. Prison life can be dangerous and frightening.

Some prisoners find it difficult to cope with life behind bars. Violence and bullying by prisoners on other prisoners is quite common. Drug abuse is also common.

It must be remembered that the family and relatives of a prisoner, often feel that they have been sentenced as well.
 
There are many rules that prisoners must follow. Prisoners can be held in their cells for hours at a time. Their meal and exercise periods are at certain set times. Life is carefully regimented and ordered by prison officers. Remember, every prisoner has had his / her freedom taken away.
