2b. Why is it a suitable material? |

Laminated wood is suitable because it can be formed
into relatively complex shapes and forms. Complex shapes can even be
achieved with one piece of laminated material. The natural wood gives the
ideal finish to furniture such as chairs. The steel chromed legs give the chair a contemporary look. The steel can be welded or brazed to give a strong and yet flexible frame. |

2c. How has each chair been manufactured? | ||
Thin construction veneers are used manufacture the seat. They can be steam treated first to make them more flexible or formed cold. A former is required and construction veneers are clamped in position | ||

The steel is folded using a pipe bender. A spring is
first place inside the tube to prevent it deforming. The steel tube is either welded or brazed to form the completed legs. |
