This is manufactured from round section steel, approximately 4mm in
diameter. It is very simple to manufacture although less robust from the
previous version of the mechanism. The advantage of this type of mechanism is that it can be manufactured using simple techniques. A relatively unskilled work force could manufacture this type of mechanism after a small amount of training. |

| MECHANISM 2 Estimated cost of manufacture: This would be inexpensive mechanism to manufacture. This is due to the range fo equipment needed and the cost of employment of a semi-skilled workforce. Estimated price - £1.00. Manufacturing skills required: Simple skills are needed. Measuring and marking out, cutting accurately with a hacksaw and filing. The use of the drilling machine is also included. The use of a pre-manufactured jig to form the eye. Tools/equipment and machinery requirements: The workforce need basic training in the operation of basic tools, equipment and machinery. Health and safety training will also be required. Labour force training requirements: Training in the use of all equipment and machinery mentioned above and Health and Safety certification / training. Time scale: Estimated time - after setting up of production line - 5 minutes as the product progresses down the production line. Materials required: Mild Steel rod - round section 4mmm diameter.
