DESIGN THE NEW EIFFEL TOWER

V. Ryan © 2002 - 2009

In this exercise you will have to use all your imagination.

IMAGINE - The Eiffel Tower is going to be dismantled. You are to design a new, modern tower to replace it. Draw the new tower and explain its attractions - using notes and labels.

For Example:
You may want to add:

Fair ground rides at the base of the tower,
Dare-devil rides - at the top,
A cinema (the highest in the world),
Places to eat,

Business Offices,
An observation platform - with a glass floor at the top,
Etc……….

The French people are very proud of the old Eiffel Tower. The new tower must be so good that it also becomes a symbol of the French nation.

Before you draw designs on paper it may be a good idea to research existing towers such as the CN Tower in Toronto (Canada) or the Jin Mao Tower (Shangai, China). These innovative designs may help you develop your own designs. Search the internet for information on these and other towers.

1. Rough out two designs - your designs must clearly show the structure of the tower.

2. Having decided on your best design - draw it carefully adding detailed notes.
