You are to design a shelter for three to four people, based on the same style as Jorn Utzon’s orange peel inspired shell roof, for the Sydney Opera House. The shelter is to provide cover when it is raining. It is for use on a beach or at a barbecue. PRODUCE TWO DIFFERENT DESIGNS |
Draw two rough sketches / ideas. You will gain marks for the following: Two clearly drawn sketches. |
IDEA ONE |
This shelter is made up of a number of waterproof sheets stitched together, based on the shape of shell roofs of the Sydney Opera House, which in turn was inspired by orange peel. It has a lightweight aluminium frame, that folds away and can be locked in position when the shelter is needed. |
IDEA TWO |
This shelter has a lightweight frame, that can be suspended from a tree or archway. The frame folds away after use and the canvas is stored in it’s own bag. This system is very quick to set up and take down. It is a stylish design, based on Jorn Utzon’s shell roof, of the Sydney Opera House. He based the shape of the roof on orange peel. |
