2b. Why is it a suitable material? |
||
Polypropylene is very strong and has the ability to stand up to forces being applied without it bending, breaking, shattering or deforming in any way. This is a vital property for any material used for manufacturing a chair. It is a pigmented thermoplastic which means the colour is not only surface deep. It is light weight allowing for chairs to be carried / moved with ease. This design can be stacked very easily and stored in a minimal space. Chairs of this type required no maintenance.
2c. How has each chair been manufactured?
This type of chair is injection moulded. This
manufacturing process is most cost effective for batch produced pieces of
furniture. The initial set up costs are high as expensive equipment is
needed. The development and skilful manufacture of a dye (former) is an
expensive task. However, if thousands of this type of chair are to be
manufactured each chair is relatively cheap. Each chair should be of the
same high quality. The modern contemporary materials suit a modern style and environment. |
