Objectives: |
The pupils
will develop an understanding of Boxford CAD software and the use of
grids in the drawing of their designs They will learn to plan and
carefully layout design ideas.
The importance of accuracy will be emphasised. |

software and hardware - Boxford CAD Drawing equipment
Scaled Grid paper
Computer projector
Fretsaws. |
Activities: |
The pupils
will be shown how to layout there chosen design idea using Boxford
CAD. Basic techniques will be demonstrated. The pupils will be
shown a 3D example of a design produced with proDesktop.
They will also be shown how to produce the same outcome via a
more traditional route - using drawing equipment.
They will start drawing their designs, adding colour to enhance
the overall quality. Explanatory notes will be added.
They will begin to produce a simple 3D model of their design
following a demonstration of the fretsaw. |
Differentiation: |
The pupils
will be given the opportunity to produce a number of designs and
also the opportunity to attend the dinnertime/evening sessions for
the extended use of CAD. (Especially through the use of proDesktop.) |
Contribution to Core Skills: |
Use of ICT—
- CAD Literacy - annotation added to drawings.
Numeracy - measuring using scaled grid. |

The pupils
will complete the classwork at home. An extension will be the
production of one of their ideas through the use of proDesktop
software. |
